Handgun Training

Obtaining your LTC and carrying a handgun isn’t something to do without serious thought.  Doing so successfully requires a good understanding of the laws and a good balance between skills, knowledge, and judgment. Learning these abilities might be the difference between successfully protecting yourself and your loved ones and incurring catastrophic repercussions. Whether you’re a seasoned LTC holder or someone just getting started on this journey… thinking about taking your first guns class, there are some skills you should develop and practice on a regular basis to help prepare you to defend yourself.   This is where a good instructor who can provide solid handgun training comes into play. Below are just a handful of the topics that will be covered in courses with In Focus Training.

Handgun Safety

At the core of your LTC journey, or any firearms training and utilization should be the idea of safety.  Being able to handle a firearm safely and effectively is a key must in terms of your skill set.  Make sure you understand and follow basic but very important rules of firearm safety, which include:

Always keep your firearm pointed in a safe location

Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot

Know your target, what is around it, and the backstop

Shooting Fundamentals

Effective shooting requires proper shooting methods, especially in high-stress circumstances. Practice aiming (sight alignment and sight picture), controlling your breathing, hold control (proper grip, minimizing movement), trigger control, and follow through.  These few items are considered shooting fundamentals and, if practiced, will aide you in becoming a better shooter.
