In Focus Training provides Texas License to Carry range instruction and handgun proficiency qualification for students who have completed, or plan to complete, the required LTC classroom training.
This session is ideal for students who completed their Texas LTC classroom course online and now need the required in-person range instruction and shooting qualification.

How the Texas LTC Range Qualification Works
Texas DPS requires online LTC students to complete 1-2 hours of range instruction and demonstrate handgun proficiency with a Texas Qualified LTC Instructor.

Texas LTC Shooting Test – 50-Round Course of Fire
The Texas LTC handgun proficiency demonstration consists of 50 rounds fired at multiple distances using a B-27 silhouette target.
- 3 yards: 20 rounds
- 7 yards: 20 rounds
- 15 yards: 10 rounds
- Total: 50 rounds
- Maximum score: 250 points
- Minimum passing score: 175 points (70%)

You may complete the range instruction and handgun proficiency demonstration either before or after completing the online classroom portion. Your completed training documentation is then used as part of your Texas LTC application process.

How much is the Texas LTC range qualification?
In Focus Training charges $75 for the LTC range instruction and handgun proficiency session. The range facility fee is separate.
How long does the LTC range portion take?
Texas DPS requires online LTC students to complete 1-2 hours of range instruction in addition to demonstrating handgun proficiency. Your session includes instruction, preparation, and the required shooting qualification.
How many rounds are required for the Texas LTC shooting test?
The Texas LTC handgun proficiency demonstration consists of 50 rounds fired at 3, 7, and 15 yards.
What score do I need to pass the Texas LTC shooting test?
The maximum score is 250 points. A minimum score of 175 points, or 70%, is required to pass the handgun proficiency demonstration.
What do I need to bring?
Bring a handgun suitable for the Texas LTC qualification, 50 rounds of factory ammunition, eye and ear protection, a ball cap, closed-toe shoes, and a valid photo ID. Rental firearms and safety equipment are available if needed.
Can I rent a handgun for the LTC shooting test?
Yes. In Focus Training has rental pistols available, including 9 mm and .22 caliber options. Please request a rental when scheduling your session.
Do I have to take the online LTC class before doing the range qualification?
No. Texas DPS allows the range instruction and handgun proficiency demonstration to be completed either before or after the online classroom portion.
Can I take the online LTC course somewhere else and do my range qualification with In Focus Training?
Yes. If you completed the classroom portion through a Texas DPS-approved Online Course Provider, you can complete your required range instruction and handgun proficiency with In Focus Training.
Do I receive my LTC-104 the same day?
Yes. After successfully completing the required range instruction and handgun proficiency demonstration, your applicable LTC-104 range documentation can be completed the same day.
