Why This Matters to You

As a Texas LTC holder, you’re likely anticipating the Texas Deer Season 2025 for LTC holders. You know the drill all about firearm safety. You’ve trained, you’ve practiced. Now it’s time to apply that precision to the upcoming deer-hunting season. This isn’t about hype, it’s about doing it right. Invite yourself into the field with discipline, gear up smart, and stay safe.

1. Mark the Dates on Your Calendar – Legally

Archery-Only Season
Runs September 27 – October 31, 2025 statewide in 252 of 254 counties. That’s your low-action, high-focus window. Texas Parks and WildlifeHuntWise

Youth-Only Days (Early)
October 24–26, 2025—your chance to mentor or train youngsters in a quieter, controlled setting. Texas Parks and Wildlife

General Firearms Season
November 1 – January 4, 2026 (North Zone)
November 1 – January 18, 2026 (South Zone) Texas Parks and Wildlife

Special Late Season
North Zone: January 5–18, 2026
South Zone: January 19 – February 1, 2026 Texas Parks and Wildlife

Youth-Only Days (Late)
January 5–18, 2026—prime mentorship window. Texas Parks and Wildlife

It’s not theoretical—it’s real, documented regulation. Use it. Win on purpose.

Mark the Dates!

2. Respect the Law – Because You Should

A recent case in New Braunfels? Someone used a crossbow to kill a deer in June—off-season, from a public roadway, and left it to waste. They’re facing fines, license suspension, and legal heat. Don’t be that guy. MySA

As an LTC-holder, your name means something. Stick to dates. Respect zones. Hunt smart.

3. Gear Checklist – Bringing Your A-Game

You’re already trained. Now equip yourself:

Archery Gear

  • Bow zeroed and arrows paper-tested at 20 yards.
  • Ground blind or elevated stand—set up before first light.
  • Blaze orange outer layer—especially if entering firearms season later.
  • Spotting scope, first aid, rangefinder.

Firearm Gear

  • Rifle or shotgun properly cleaned, sighted, and scoped.
  • Hearing and eye protection—you know this.
  • Camouflage or blaze gear depending on terrain and overlap zones.
  • Field cleaning kit, extra ammo, trail camera for visibility.

Safety pause: You already handle weapons responsibly. Apply that same discipline to every piece you load and every step you take.

4. Hunting Discipline – Level Up Your Game

  • Communication Matters: Let someone know your hunt plan—exact hours, location, date, expected return.
  • Know Your Backstop: Always. Every shot must travel into safe ground.
  • Unload When Done: Never carry a loaded weapon outside of active shooting.
  • Retrieve Only When Safe: Make sure your shot was clean and the area is still secure before messing with your arrow or tag.

You’re a trained carrier—transfer that rigor to the woods.

5. Why This 2025 Texas Deer Season Is Your Best Shot

As an LTC holder, you already value training and precision. Now bring that edge to hunting season. Archery gives you stealth. General brings opportunity. Lasers focus. Let’s hunt with intent, not accident.
